  • Last Rainfall: Rainfall on Kachana 2004/2005
  • Fire: Active fire exclusion 1996 and 2005

  • 0-2cm: Partly decomposed litter, high insect activity, dense grass roots
  • 2-20cm: Thick humus layer, moist, lots of roots; color: black
  • 20-27cm: Moist sand with clay and humic compounds; color: grey to brown
  • 27-60cm: Wet sand, not many roots, forms chunks, ground water entry; color: brown to lighter brown
