- Vegetation: Forest with melaleuca, eucalyptus, pandanus, grevillea,...
- Ground Cover: Thickly covered with at least 15cm of undecomposed, shredded litter, mostly spiral palm leafs
- Soil Surface: Humic soil, not compacted, moist
- Last Rainfall: Rainfall on Kachana 2004/2005
- Fire: Active fire exclusion 1996 and 2005
- Biological: Medium density stocking for 5 days 4 months prior to sampling
- Mechanical: None
- Chemical: None
- Whit in 10m distance from profile 3
Profile description:
- 0-2cm: Partly decomposed litter, high insect activity
- 2-25cm: Thick humus layer, moist, lots of roots; color: black
- 25-35cm: Moist sand with clay and humic compounds, ; color: grey to brown
- 35-60cm: Wet sand; color: light brown
